Cruising 101

Cruise line ships come in all shapes and sizes, budgets and lengths of days, amenities and day excursions.  If there is water there is a cruise: ocean, sea and rivers!

Cruise lines vary like hotels. The Holiday Inn differs from The Four Seasons.

“If I have never cruised, how do I select the right cruise for me?”  That is where I come into the picture.  Just like selecting a land resort vacation, you need to consider when, where, who and how much.   But mostly what do you like and what do you want to do?   Do you like large all inclusive resorts or small boutique ones?  I ask all the questions, do the research and present you the options so you can easily decide what cruise line is best for you.

Why cruise? The main reason people cruise is they can go several places and not unpack and repack! Some people cruise just for the rest and relaxation. Some for the gambling and fun times! Others want the lectures and fine dining. Whatever you’re looking for in a vacation, you can find on a cruise.

I have a friend who decided they did not want to stay in cold New England for the winter but also did not want the hassle of a second home.   So they cruise for three months. (Cunard, Queen Mary and Crystal Serenity)  No cooking to do, interesting places to explore, friendships to make, and quiet sunsets to enjoy! What a lovely idea. It may be too late for this winter, but 2012 will be just as cold and you can reserve your world cruise today.

Now is also the time to consider a European river cruise, an Alaskan summer cruise, a last minute Caribbean getaway, or one of the world cruises for a week or two.

Cruising brings me peace and quiet – I can always find a little nook to settle in with book and enjoy the smells, sights and sounds.
