Yes, this will be my fourth out of town experience in just over two months. What do you like to do when you go out of town? For me there are three general experiences; Family, Learning and Relaxing. Like most of us, I do most of my traveling to family as three of my four children are out of the area. I go to visit each three or more times a year. I love my four children and six grandchildren and enjoy watching them grow. But I rarely call these trips vacations, they are family! On each trip I try to do something for me, a vacation thing. On my most recent trip to Atlanta I went to the local museum, the High, for a special exhibit, Frida and Diego. It was wonderful.
Therefore, vacations for me are either learning or relaxing. My New York City trip in March was learning. Listening about new music and experiencing lots of art and great food! Next week I will take my sister, Janet, to a half work half play trip to St. Lucia, an island deep in the Caribbean. I have been several times to St. Lucia and need to keep most up to date on the new resorts and renovations. My strength as an agent is knowing some places very well. But is this a vacation or just an out of town experience? I am sure we will have lots of down time to just relax!
For me the best out of town experience is when I can turn off all electronics and be in the moment for an extended period of time; both learning or relaxing and eating! I do wish more of you would try it. Even if just for a few days then you can build up to 10 days with no electronics and just be. Some of you I know are having heart palpitations just thinking of it but all I can say is if you do not try it, how will you know how wonderful it feels?
