“The trip was amazing, and I would like to send my tour director an e-mail. Her name was Judy Thomson, with Globus. Would you be able to get her e-mail for me? Thanks, Robin”
Now this was the right trip for an escorted tour. Pam and Robin went to New Zealand and Australia. When the amount of land to cover is extensive or when the language is a real barrier, a tour is recommended. For example, the country of China, most of us can not read Chinese characters or speak the language. The country is huge and to see the main attractions the distances are great. Costa Rica is another good place for a tour as the roads are marginal. Tours can also be recommended for first time travelers, for those who need or want assistance, or for those who just want to relax and be taken along. So I offer tours in most places.
A tour usually implies an escort/director that is with the group all the time. (The group can be two or twenty-two people.) The escort directs all connections, excursions, and meal details. Prior to departure you know all hotels and means of transportation and usually what you are going to experience. Escorted tours vary in the amount of inclusion; some have many extras along the way; while others include the extras in the basic package. One needs to read all the details carefully. The cost is often a guide to what is included. The higher the cost, the more included but it can also be the higher the cost, the better the hotels are. Tours like in life, you get what you pay for most of the time.
Selecting a tour is more than just the price. Read carefully where they are going. Do you want to see these places? You may pick a less expensive tour not because of the price but where it is going to be taking you. Pam and Robin, who went to New Zealand and Australia, choose Globus because of the destinations. In the end because of the added excursions, they spent more money, but they did what they wanted to do. Except, they both were without luggage for a week!
“Thank-you! The lost luggage made me realize how very little one really needs for a trip…even a 21 day trip! Once I got the luggage back I realized I could’ve been perfectly fine with less stuff. So I learned that, as well as how cool I can be under stressful circumstances. Did Pam mention how I fell into the hot tub up to my neck while my luggage was missing and only had the clothes that were on my back, which were now soaking wet? It was quite comical! Except, I did break 2 bones in my foot when it happened. But I can still honestly say the trip was fabulous!” – Robin
