Snow Storms For a Travel Consultant

Last week there were thousands of cancelled flights due to weather in the Northeast. And of course several of my clients were involved. They did almost nothing to get home or change/cancel reservations.

Here is what Scott needed to do:

“Please cancel the trip.  We needed to be there Saturday night.  Please have them reimburse the company.  Thanks for your help.”

That was all.  No searching the internet to learn how to cancel, no waiting on hold to talk to Delta… just simply a few words in an email.

“I can’t thank you enough for SAVING my precious one week Cayman vacation!

Your amazing work yesterday, Friday, Feb 8th, to rebook both flights, due to the Blizzard of 2013, will make it possible for me to have my time in the sun for the winter….a godsend! There is no way I could have fought through the “logjam” of calls to Jet Blue to make this happen. You are the BEST!! Cheers and oceans of thanks!”

Then there was Ellan and Sandy both working on the west coast so connecting with them was difficult. I saw what their options were and while they were about their business I changed and reissued their flights home from Friday to Sunday.

It may be easy to book a domestic flight on the internet, but let me tell you, when it comes to Mother Nature it is really nice to have a travel consultant available. Monitoring your flights, making airline changes, waiving the fees and being creative is not very easy on your own. When your friends tell you the stories of what they had to do to make changes, just tell them, “why you use a travel consultant?” Like ME!

Thank you!
