When people talk to me about travel I hear more often, “I want to but can not” than “I will.” I am not sure if the, “I can not,” is because of money or courage… or a bit of both. But I do not understand neither. I clearly do believe if there is a will there is a way. If you can think it, it can be. Life is about priorities, setting goals, and meeting objectives.
My invitation to travel with me to the Southern France has no takers. Much to my surprise, since people often say, “Take me with you!” So here is your opportunity. Take the Plunge…
On the scale of things, this trip to Southern France will not be a very expensive holiday. I remember back in 1970, we were looking to buy a house in Andover. We needed $5,000 more for the down payment. Over a few months my husband and I (with two children) spent almost nothing except on the essentials and we saved the money. Then in October 2008, when the market tanked I did not know what was going to happen to my business. So for a month, I did not spend a penny. If there was gas that was all I had and if there was money on my Charlie Card (subway pass) that was my transportation plus my feet. I ate out of my freezer and cabinet. (It is amazing how much food we hoard.) So if you want to come with me and need to save I am sure you can, it just a matter of priorities.
I have friends who have family obligations that seem to paralyze them. I had a mother with no legs in a nursing home. When I wanted to leave the country for six months, I enlisted her into my dreams and goals. We all need our life priorities and others need to learn to understand and enjoy them too!
Is it exciting and a bit unnerving to go to a country where you do not speak the language? Absolutely! Traveling for me is most empowering. I can do anything once I wander the back roads of France. Take the Plunge and come with me.
