Do Something Different

Two weeks ago I was driving back to Cambridge from my 50th high school reunion.

The Volvo

Can you imagine 50 years?   Anyhow going to New Jersey I left late and go stuck in all kinds of traffic jams.  On the return, south of Hartford…

There was a sign indicating an accident in the city on I-91 North.  When I got close to the city the backup was already miles long.  I was not going to sit in another traffic jam!  So I did not know where I was but I got off!

I just went. I knew needed to go North and East to find I-84. As I was poking my way through an industrial area, I noticed a red van was following me. I confirmed they were following me back to the highway because they had gone through several u-turns with me!  Within 10 minutes, I was in downtown Hartford on a Sunday morning. There was no traffic and I found I-84.  The red van and I tooted horns as we took off homeward. So many others were still back on I-91. I felt smart and empowered because I could think and willing to explore.  Do something different next time you are in a jam!
