Destination: What about Paris?

What can be said that is not already in a good guide book? To navigate Paris, I bring two things: Rick Steve’s books and a good map, www.mapeasy.com. You can’t go wrong with either. But what about really discovering the city?  We have all seen pictures of Paris in the movies, in magazine ads, and on the television. We know what she looks like. But do we know how she feels, tastes or smells ? Like a good bottle of wine, it needs to be consumed to enjoy!

Jardin des Tuileries

Paris is so different from the other major cities of the world. I guess she is special for all her so many museums! Otherwise she is mostly residential with shops and restaurants. She does not have the large financial center like London, the large historical center like Rome, or the government center like Brussels. Oh, she has her cars and bustle, but there are so many wonderful places to just sit and watch her people go by.

Jardin du Luxembourg

I think that is what I like most about Paris is her (400) gardens and parks.  I have been known to sit and watch the small sail boats in Jardin Des Tuileries  or Jardin du Luxembourg for a very long time!  Recently I discovered a tour of the hidden gardens of Paris.  I can not wait to explore!
