101: Travel Agent Advantages

You’re looking to book a vacation and wonder, “Wouldn’t it just be easier if I did it myself? All those internet sites seem to offer such great deals.”

We have been force fed falsehoods.  Everyone keeps saying the middleman is dead and the internet is cheaper and faster.  While the internet is a great tool, it is inferior and more expensive than a great travel agent: ME!!

Travel Agent advantages:

A:  Less Money
B:  Expert Advice
C:  24 Hour support system when your flights are cancelled, missed, or help is needed.

Below are examples from 2009:

1- client purchased ticket on AItalia for $1,383.00.  I knew it was very high, so the next day I checked again.  The fare came down $260.00.   Even though the ticket was nonrefundable, I was able to void the ticket and reissue it for the lower fare.  All of this was done without the client asking or knowing but he saved $260.00 from my efforts and knowledge.

2- client has a hotel reservation in Montreal for three nights at a very nice hotel. On the internet he saw a 25% discount sale.  He asked if I could change his rate to the sale rate.   The sale was off the regular rack rate.  The special rate he already had with my travel services was $15.00 a night less than the internet sale.  He was surprised to learn he was already paying much less than the best the internet could offer.

3- client needed a ticket for his daughter to fly to San Francisco.  He spent 45 minutes searching the internet to find $296.00 ticket.  In five minutes, I did the same itinerary for $20.00 less plus she got 24-hour support for free. He was shocked to learn that the eight websites he searched were all more expensive than I.

That is just one weeks worth, I have numerous more, some with even greater savings.

Save money and  save time!
